Due to the power shutdown and possible high wind/fire danger the Oakridge School District will delay the start of school until September 9. We will evaluate the situation and determine if we are able to prepare and deliver meals today. An update will follow to let you know. We are sad we won't see our students today and look forward to our first day tomorrow!
Meal Service starts September 8, 2020!
All children ages 1-18 continue to eat free! Under an expanded Summer Food Service Program Option, OSD will be providing breakfast and lunch to any child between the age of 1 and 18. The meals will be delivered at the same time, lunch for the day of delivery and breakfast for the next day.
At this time if students are K-3 who are in person at our schools will receive their meal at school and will not pick up at the bus stop.
Lunch will be available for students via bus delivery routes.: Routes are posted on our website. They are under Menu- Departments then Transportation
Meals will be served between 11:45 am and 12:45 pm

Early Childhood CARES HAS PRESCHOOL OPENINGS!!
Early Childhood CARES is thrilled to announce the re-opening of our part-day preschool classroom at the Westridge Early Learning Collaborative. The class will run 8:30-11:30 Monday through Thursday and up to 6 spaces are open for local preschoolers who are 3 or 4 years old as of Sept. 1, 2020.

Parents,
Due to COVID19, students must enter and exit the school buses in a specified way. In order to comply with this mandate, First Student must know that students are riding the bus ahead of time. The survey results were used to initially place students.
Any “new” student(s) (not self identified on the survey) that we receive, will be added within 24 to 48 hours. This is because we may have to contact families for new pick up or drop off times or change the route to accommodate the new student(s). Our goal is to have them on the bus the next day whenever possible.
If you have not heard from us and need the bus to transport your students in grades K-3, please contact us. The number that parents can call is 541.782.3090 and leave a message if we are unavailable. The number will be checked 2 times a day.
Parents of Preschool students:
We are so excited to open our WESTRIDGE PRESCHOOL COLLABORATIVE!! This space will house Head Start, Early Head Start, Early Childhood Cares, and the Oakridge School District Preschool classroom.
We have been working on the classrooms and our programs will be moving on September 8-18.
At this time the OSD preschool program is scheduled to begin September 21. Packets for official registration will be mailed out September 8.

For parents of incoming kindergarten students:
If you have not returned the school registration packet, please do so NOW. If you have not received a registration packet, please contact the OES office so one can be sent to you. We have children who filled out the online survey, but they are not officially registered because we don't have their registration paperwork. Children who aren’t registered will not be able to start school until they are. Thank you so much!

SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM
The last day meals will be served through the summer lunch program is August 27. Our school based meal service will begin on September 8, 2020. We are waiting for information from the Oregon Department of Education Child Nutrition, concerning how we will be allowed to serve meals to children attending the Oakridge School District. When we have information we will share that with you. Please know that we will have meals available for all Oakridge School District students whether they are attending in person or online. We will let you know how to access them if your child is attending online.
Good afternoon. This message is for Oakridge Parents. We are holding a Parent information meeting on Thursday, August 27 at 6:30 PM. The meeting will be held by Zoom. You may log in on your computer or dial in on your phone. Information will be shared concerning specifics of the Elementary and Junior/Senior High School reopening. General information about state and county COVID metrics and how they direct our instructional model will also be shared. We will record the session and post it on our website Friday.

Friday, August 14, at Oakridge High School Bus Barn, at 47997 W 1st St. (Access sale on 2nd St), 9:00-2:00: 1- 1986 Chevrolet 3/4 ton, 2 WD with lift; 1- 12’ stainless steel salad bar; 2 – 6’ Powermate table saws and 1-table saw (no brand name); 1- Rockwell/Delta drill press; 2- Delta scroll saws; 1- Sanding Station-disc/belt; 1- 6’ pick-up canopy.
Sealed bids accepted from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. during the sale for listed items. Bids will be opened August 15, at 1:00 p.m. and successful bidders notified by August 17 and will have until 4:00 p.m. to pick up and pay for the item(s). SCHOOL SUPPLIES: Oakridge School District has purchased basic school supplies for all students to use at school. These will be distributed to individual students in containers with their name marked on it. These will be used exclusively by each student at school. If you need supplies and are unable to purchase for use at home, we can help you out. Please let your school know. PS: At least in the beginning of the year, we will not be using backpacks in the buildings at all when we are able to return.
Pandemic-EBT update: Oakridge School District registered all families to receive the Pandemic-EBT Summer Benefit. According to DHS, our files are being processed and it may be the end of August or early September before you start receiving the benefit. All students registered in the 2019-20 school year qualify. If you do not receive your card or additional benefit on your card by August 15, please contact DHS.
