OSSA names 2025 Superintendent of the Year ~
Dave McGrath

The Oregon Small Schools Association (OSSA) is proud to announce Dave McGrath, Superintendent of
Oakridge School District, as the 2025 OSSA Superintendent of the Year. This distinguished award
recognizes McGrath’s outstanding leadership, unwavering dedication to student success, and
transformative impact on the Oakridge community.
Leading a district that serves approximately 515 students in rural Lane County, McGrath has
demonstrated exceptional vision, resilience, and a deep commitment to education. Under his guidance,
Oakridge School District has fostered a culture of trust, inclusivity, and academic excellence. His
leadership has strengthened community ties, improved student engagement, and ensured equitable
opportunities for all learners.
“Superintendent McGrath’s dedication is evident in every aspect of the Oakridge School District,” said
Michael Carter, Executive Director of OSSA. “From supporting students at athletic events to fostering
meaningful relationships with educators and families, his leadership has brought lasting positive change.”
McGrath’s impact extends beyond administrative duties—his tireless efforts have resulted in significant
improvements in student attendance, staff retention, and school infrastructure. His initiatives include
enhancing disciplinary practices, implementing new attendance strategies, and spearheading district-wide
upgrades, such as gymnasium renovations and security improvements.
The 2025 OSSA Superintendent of the Year award highlights the vital role small school leaders play in
shaping Oregon’s educational landscape.
Mr. McGrath will receive his 2025 OSSA Superintendent of the Year award at the upcoming Annual
COSA Conference, Wednesday, June 18 th , 2025, at 8:00 a.m., in Seaside, Oregon. The OSSA Board of
Directors is delighted to honor Mr. Dave McGrath this year. He is an exemplary leader whose work has
improved the success of students in Oregon’s small school districts.
OSSA recognizes one superintendent each year who excels in his/her leadership position. Criteria include
integrity, leadership, commitment to community, scholarship and student achievement. OSSA serves as an
